Engaging pupils with technology

Have a look at this Prezi presentation. It combines video, text slides and graphics in a different way from PowerPoint. You can zoom in and out as required, step forward and back with the arrow keys, etc, etc. It uses all the knowledge and understanding that children develop when using PowerPoint. Why not give them a different environment to work in?
It is free... on-line... and yet completed Prezi presentations can be downloaded and viewed on any computer.
The presentation itself is a remix of some things you may already have seen... and others you might not have done! Think about your school in relation to some of the challenges here

  1. There is some really thought provoking stuff in this presentation which I totally support. However I have some practical reservations:

    1. Worcestershire LA Broadband service is still unreliable. Some days it is lightening quick and others it is too slow to be of any use.
    2. How do we as educators stand in terms of E-Safety if we are allowing our students to use Google docs etc. Do we create accounts using Global IDs?

  2. The presentation represents a range of possibilities not a set of recommendations. Obviously we have to work in the most appropriate way for the level of understanding of our children. Google docs is just one example of collaborative working. J2E (available via the Worcestershire Learning Gateway) would do the same job and in a much more child friendly way!
